An International Thriller...Only It's Real
A defector Russian scientist, Cold War rivalries, a closely guarded operation...all the trappings of a brilliant spy novel? Yes and no...it's not fiction. New York Times reporter James Risen's latest book is an explosion waiting to shake the Bush Government off its feet. We were all singularly blaming Ahmedinejad all this while. Turns out the U.S. administrations (yes, Clinton's too) have been secretly authorizing Operation Merlin to ostensibly contain Russian influence in the pre- 9/11 world. But it's revealed now that the same operation was terribly botched up by supplying a wrong blueprint for nuclear weapons to one of the Axis-of-evil states.
